Deadlines?

Why is it that in college there is basically no excuse for missing a deadline, whether it be a paper or showing up for a test? There better be a written doctor's excuse or a death in the family, and sometimes those won't even help you.

However, when it comes to having devices of mass destruction, that's different - and is deserving of an extension.
