Over the hill and then some

Over the weekend my dad turned 50. This basically means that he is one-year closer to collecting social security while I am one-year closer to obtaining the deed to our house.

The majority of students reading this probably have parents who have been alive for OVER FIFTY YEARS! To show what a long period of time this is, let's examine what was happening in the world when my dad was born in 1953:
