Volcano style biking
BY DAVID JAKIELO
Vacations are supposed to be a time of rest and relaxation. It is for this reason that I have no idea why I spent part of my summer vacation in Maui, Hawaii, biking (without training wheels) 38 miles down a 10,023-foot volcano.
With Hawaii being an island, I understood the strong possibility that during the trip I might get eaten by "Jaws I" or "Jaws II." With this occupying my mind I didn't realize that I agreed to bike down the world's largest dormant volcano, Haleakala (meaning: will kill you if the sharks don't).
